After Rory and Amy died, the Doctor fled to Victorian London where he met Clara and the demon snowmen of death. This story takes place between those two instances. The Doctor has found a new companion who surpassed the one-word challenge. The fifteen-year-old Winona Brown needs his help returning to her own time. But something is off. She's not surprised at how big the TARDIS is or that there are aliens out there like a normal teenager (or any human for that matter) would be. She knows more than she should for never having met the Doctor before. The Doctor doesn't know how she knows these things. And he really doesn't like not knowing.
