When you have all the parts to something, it can be properly assembled together in the correct way and function properly. This is common knowledge.
So, now, what happens when a small piece is taken away?
It's still nearly whole, just slightly off. It still works fine.
What happens when large chunks are taken out of the picture?
It surely can't just be assembled the same way. There's nothing to support the missing pieces.
So you substitute the missing parts for the ones you have, mashing them together.
But it doesn't work right.

The process repeats itself over and over and there's no way you can stop it. After all, you're made of paper - you're delicate, fragile. Until you crash so much that you're ruined - then you're thrown away. At those times, you know that you at least have one person who will fix you. He calls you his queen, as any king would whilst in power of the empire you both strive to build together.
