"What the hell do you want?" I had the knife pointed at him and looked him straight in the eyes.
His eyes widened and he looked at the knife, to me, to the knife, to me, then the knife again. "I want you to talk to me."
I turned back and continued slicing the tomato. "Give me one good reason why I should speak to you after what you did."
I saw him rub his neck from the corner of my eye. "I. . . . . I missed you."
I stopped again. He can't do that. He's not allowed to do that. I whirled at him, knife dangerously close to his neck as I stood on my tiptoes and glared at him, my cheeks flushed.
"Were you ever planning on coming back?! Did you expect me to just wait there for your return?" I stepped closer to him, close enough that I could feel his breath overlap mine. "Did you really think that I'd be happy to see you?"
I could see a storm of feelings swirling in his eyes; sadness, regret, guilt, and every other sour thing Pandora let out of her box.
I leaned in closer. "After leaving me like that, I want you to feel what it's like to be rejected by your mate. Feel the crap I went through. Let's see how long you'll last."
