The Stars of Summer

Walmart was super crowded, as usual. There were little kids screaming, running around. And some of the adults and employees were so rude!

I got the milk, and it was super expensive! $4.99! I walked over to get the eggs, and I found the cheapest ones I could find. Suddenly, someone pushed into me and I dropped the eggs, splattering all over the floor.

"Oh my gosh! I'm so sorry!" A small, dirty blonde haired boy exclaimed. He looked to be around my age." I'll help you clean it up."

"No, that's ok, you don't ha-

"No really, I want to help you." He pointed towards a big mop that one of the employees must have left there. "I've always wanted to use one of these", he said with a devilish grin.

We mopped up the floor, and it was actually quite fun. We talked, and told each other about ourselves.
Turns out, his name is Sal and he is 13- the same age as me!

He glanced at his Batman watch that he was wearing on his tiny wrist.
"Sorry, I gotta go! Um, do you want my phone number? You know, so we can talk later?"

"Um, sure!"

He took out a pen that he had in his pocket, and he gently grabbed my hand. He wrote the number in small, sloppy handwriting.

That's gonna be hard to read later...
