After one certain hunt where her husband is killed she vowed to teach her sons every possible way to defend themselves against anything and everything.
Dean doesn't enjoy this lifestyle all too much but puts up with it due to his brother listening to every little thing their mother tells them thus leading Dean to make sure his younger brother Sam doesn't slip up and do anything stupid.
