Hawkmoth was finally defeated after three years of akuma fighting. It turned out that Hawkmoth was Adrien's mom's younger brother, who was obsessed with bringing her back from the dead. After the defeat of Hawkmoth, Marinette and Adrien had only two days left in high school before the two of them would go abroad to continue their studies. Marinette would leave for the States and Adrien would go to Germany to continue his studies on chemical engineering. A day before they left, the school held a prom event. Everyone was there, except for Marinette and Adrien. They had told each other the day before that they would have a patrol today. Tonight would be their last night in Paris, and the both of them wanted to tell the other about leaving the city. Marinette still doesn't know who Chat Noir really is and Adrien still doesn't know who Ladybug is. Adrien had planned to tell Ladybug who he really is under the mask, although he knew that it was a big chance that Ladybug wouldn't want him to.
