Verity looked up fully expecting a playful smile or some indication of banter, but Jack possessed the same cold facial expressions as always. He slouched against the wall with his hands in his brown trousers. His hair was ruffled and chaotic. His lips were motionless and whilst she hoped they might flicker into a smile -they did not. His eyebrows furrowed slightly at her elongated gaze. He made her self-conscious. She admired his laid-back nature and became frustrated with her own apprehensive attitude.

Verity cleared her throat to break the silence "Yes... well, I shall be grateful that I do not captivate your affections."

She knew her words did not affect him.
......
Verity Bridgewater's got demons in her past, troubles on her back and a self-proclaimed victim of society. She is not the heroine of a coming to age novel, she is not the star of a historical fiction film. Selfish, cold-blooded and cruel, yet spectacularly moral.

"I think Mr.knights has anger issues." Just as those words slipped out from my mouth Mr.knights turned and in the blink of an eye, I was slammed against a wall with great force while taking both my hands above my head with just one hand and caging me fully into him. I felt the chills ran down my esophagus and my head started making involuntary shakes as I started taking short breaths. A numbness creeped into my brain. You're doomed! I thought. His dark black eyes were staring right into mine as if they can see through me. I felt naked, I felt cold yet scared under his eyes. My chest rose up and down due to the decrease in my oxygen intake. "I think that .. was a mistake" I mumbled. It's not funny. my inner self warned. "Button your lips unless you want me to fuck that little smart mouth of yours," he said in a very lower and husky tone at the same time maintaining eye contact. I gulped. "I'm flattered that you admitted I'm smart," I said. He smirked. Not good villa. "Well, you asked for it" he hissed. What. I asked for what? Well, you shouldn't have run your mouth villa. My inner self spoke. Because he slammed His lips directly on mine as his body started pressing against me as tones of electricity passed from him entered my body. ---------------------------------------------------- Ashton Knights is a billionaire before the son of America. he's 27 and is adored by every American and he practically grew with media. he's mysterious, dark, possessive, mature, and rude but gentle yet beautiful. 𝐎𝐍𝐄 𝐌𝐔𝐒𝐓 𝐀𝐋𝐖𝐀𝐘𝐒 𝐑𝐄𝐌𝐄𝐌𝐁𝐄𝐑 that some bonds are as inevitable as the tides, drawing one and one together despite the constraints that bind them away from each other. Some cannot be escaped, others do not want to escape. But then there is society, and though evolving, it is certainly demanding of compliance. I ask you, from an unopened letter: Can the gravity of an undeniable connection be labeled as wrong? As fruit of insanity? Perhaps some truths are destined to remain shrouded in mystery, but Siena DeLuca and Eloise Bridgerton cannot, for crying out loud, endure ignorance, and much less impotence. If the world refuses to see them through gentle eyes- or accepting ones, simply- then they would damn right assure that they would find a way to wreak havoc raucous enough to earn the disdain. Because to love in secrecy is a burden, an exhausting endeavor even for those restless as them. But it is also a world too old to remain unchanging, a world too entrenched in tradition. So, when does one seize the moment to ignite revolution? When does one know it is the right moment to set in motion a scheme so grand it is meant to redefine existence as we know it?
