217 years after the Third World War, society is now divided into two social classes: the ARLITES, people of the Upper City, and the HUMANES, people of the Lower City. A state's military and government is depended upon its wealthier population, while the lesser privileged are stripped of their rights, forced to survive on their own.
Just months before the new Californian General will be elected, its current leader, Aaron Lane, bids his last farewell to the Humanes. A notorious group, the Arlites Assassins Society, attempts to put a bullet right through his head. Their plan backfired on them, when a seventeen-year-old Humane girl, Kalista Young, puts herself between the General and the bullet.
Truths and conspiracies are unraveled one by one. Kalista discovers her true identity and power, a power that was thought to have died with its instigators, the ELEGIANS. She discovers what truly happened during the Third World War. She also discovers the reason behind the creation of the two cities, and why it was so important.
As each second passes by, her efforts to find the perpetrators of the assassination is slowly becoming a wild goose chase. Alongside the General's two sons, she continues to gather information about their state's history, about the Elegians, about the Assassins, and everyone involved with them.
With the knowledge in hand, Kalista is starting to think that she can never truly trust anyone but herself.

Before the fall of Earth humanity built a great colony ship, ten thousand of the colonist left Earth for a hundred year journey to Gillespie. They came from all over the Earth leaving a planet knowing they would never see another in their lifetime. The Ark is a rotating cylinder the size of a large island with its own train system. It's divided into three main sections, the city, the framlands, and the Lowers. The people are divided into three groups as well, Uppers, Middles and Lowers. Uppers are made of elite scientist, Astro-crops, bureaucrats they made up about 3% of the population. The Middles are are the farmers, the guard, teachers, doctors, the food processors, clothes makers and of course the mechanical maintenance workers. They make-up the 97% of the 10,000 counted citizens. The lowers are criminals and children born to un-paired parents. They live separated from the middles and Upper. In lowers you work in water reclamation or in one of the fish farms that supply protein to the ship. In the year 2149 Dylan De Rovia is trying to wrap her head around the idea that in two year's she'll be paired. That they call marriage on the Ark. Pairing is good most who are paired do end-up staying together because while genetics play good part in determining a match so does personality. Some people choose to use spend this time having a good time with as many partners as possible. Dylan however, vowed that she would never fall in love with anyone before pairing. The universe had other plans however, when Dylan learns that she'll pair with an Upper named Kyive Sinclar life gets more complicated than ever. Sanctuary
Sanctuary. That was what the quarantine dome was supposed to be, a place of refuge from the N-Gel and the deadly Neoplague they unleashed on the world. But we aren't safe here. Senna is uprooted from her rural life in the outer dome when her mother agrees to marry the President of Sanctuary. It was supposed to be a Cinderella story, but Senna can't stand the health and status obsessed city. Her only escape comes from repairing an antique piece of wireless tech, an endeavor that is seemingly hopeless due to the interference that reduced such tech useless after the invasion. Senna believes that if she can get the device to work, she can use it to contact the life she left behind. However, it isn't her old life she reaches when she gets the device to power on. Instead she catches the SOS of a little girl who claims to be held captive in the toxic world outside of the dome. The girl offers a reward for her rescue-the cure for the plague that forced humanity into quarantine and took Senna's father from her.
