It is the eve of the Great Depression. The Tremblay twins arrive in New York for a holiday, but instead of seaside fun on Coney Island, they learn one of them is destined to marry the Angel of Death ... or his mortal representative. The Graces are a lineage of cursed men who commit murder to sustain the good fortune of their family, but the last two men of the bloodline will do anything to break the cruel spell, even if they hurt loved ones to succeed. When a pair of girls with a prophecy of salvation cross their paths more than once, they form an alliance to destroy the witch who torments both families. ~~~ This story was a Nanowrimo 2012 entry. Thank you to the Nanowrimo team and all the volunteers who make Nanowrimo possible. Thank you, everyone who cheered me on: friends, family, and all the on-line Nanowrimo enthusiasts on Google+ who make the event so fun. ~~~ Cover art: The woman chained to Death is by Karin Boye circa 1916-1918; autopsy engraving by John Bell circa 1810. Cover layout by Karen Michaud. First Edition, November 2012 Content warnings for chapters with mature subject matter will be provided at time of chapter publication, though none of the content is very graphic.
