Plentiful prey and water promise a peaceful future for DustClan and FernClan. Healthy kits are being welcomed into their respective Clans, and strong apprentices are becoming loyal warriors quickly and successfully.

But the Clans' new world isn't as perfect as they thought.

Every day, at night, at least two cats become mad. Their eyes, hungry for blood, and their crooked smile, terrifying their Clanmates, replace their relaxed selves when they search for their next victim. Claws stretched, jaws open, they bite down on their prey and transform them into similar monsters.

Helpless, StarClan delivers a prophecy to the haunted Clans, sending five cats on a quest to find the cure for this sickness. But their objective won't be completed unless they come back in time, which might be hard for them if they don't hurry.
