Melantha Cross has had some very strange dreams for the past month. Dreams of a world that is  completely different from our own. She travels through that strange world in her dreams, that world where it rains Diamonds in the north, is different times of the day at random, and the king of the territory she always lands in wants her head. 

  Confused as she is by these increasingly vivid dreams, Mel is not scared by what can not hurt her. After all, nothing can hurt you in a dream . . . Right? But things don't add up. She gets scratched in a dream, and awakes with the same wound. She dreams of falling into the sea, and wakes up drenched.

                                           And then she doesn't wake up at all.
