This is the first chapter of my critically acclaimed novel, 'Occupied'. But it's almost 9,000 words long, and so it reads as a short story in it's own right. Here's the synopsis...

She grows as an independent, confident woman with something to prove. Her luck turns around when her family is accepted as refugees to America. Will she look for Knox? How will they meet?
