Outsiders

Ilbrek knows nothing of his family, save that he once had one. But when a man comes to find him, saying that he is his grandfather, Ilbrek cannot hide his rage, or his hope. What this man has to say fills in all of the gaps for him. Ilbrek is part of a group of non-elves that has elven abilities. He can use magic and will become immortal of he chooses to do so. But like everything, his decision will bring along consequences. Those like him that have been discovered are either killed publicly and denounced as enemies to the Kingdom, kept alive and prisoner as examples to the populace; or outcast, sent to wander the forest , seeking death. So they must practice in secret, going about their business in the day, and convening together at night, deep within the forest where the shadows protect them from those who would cause them harm. But what of his grandfather’s secret past, a past that dealt with the enemies of the throne, the scum and underground dealers that Ilbrek has been sworn to remove from the presence of the city? Can he wrestle the truth form the unrelenting iron lips of this forefathers, or will he remain forever in the dark, keeping loyal to the only thing that has ever told him the truth? All people have secrets and none wish to share them, least of all those who have nothing to hide. But the knowledge that his predecessors have is valuable, and many have lost their lives to it’s protection, and even more have spent their lives wrestling portions of this information away from their keepers. In the deadly game that is the politics of the realm, a new contestant has joined.
