Rose Waters was changed the day she visited the Verisian Temple. She came back reserved, quiet. She would lash out and cry herself to sleep after exhausting meltdowns. She was broken.

Unless she is hidden behind a mask.

Verity (who is Rose in a different sense) was happy with life, she saved people, she was good. People loved her and celebrated her.

They called her verity because it meant truth, and Verity could tell the truth, at least she could read minds.

But how could that help a broken girl when no one knows it's her.

She opened her eyes, watching intently as the heroes slowly crowded on the rooftop around her. The moon illuminated their serious masked faces and flashy suits, giving Neera the opportunity to figure out what powers they might possess. She kept her eyes halfway closed and studied them. Most of the suits were at least 75% black. One hero stuck out in her blue suit. It had no black on it. Neera was wary of the color of her suit. /How did I end up here?/ One of the heroes had surprised her with a lucky hit almost a minute ago. She had felt the impact and acted on it, diving to the ground. She had a better fighting chance against the six when they were caught off guard. And if one of them had the ability to purify water, it would all go down hill. ⚡️⚡️⚡️ Romance; mental-health awareness; superheroes; abuse

39 parts Ongoing Mature
The Academy of Manipulation and Control was built on that exact premise: to manipulate and control its students and their gifts. 150 years ago, the Founders created the school to control its students, and their gifts to manipulate the elements, and force them unlearn their "magic" and blend in with society. Today the Academy has reclaimed itself by changing their name, and their reason for existence. The Academy of Manipulation and Control became "Acamancy," a safe haven for young adults to learn about, improve upon, and gain control over their gifts. They learn how to not only how to succeed in school, but how to live amongst society with their gifts, and most importantly how to use those gifts to change their lives, and their entire world, for the better. The Echoes of Rivalry and Ruin follows 19-year-old Emalyne Thatcher on her journey through her first year at the Academy. Striving to keep up her reputation as top of the class, Emalyne learns about not only Acamancy, but learns about herself. Watch as her trials and triumphs in class, romance, friendship, and the battle grounds unfold. Will "The Flamers" ruin her chances at a successful Acamancy education? Will she make it at Acamancy or be forced to live her worst nightmare, a "Normie" life... Will Emmie find love or let her anxious mind get in the way, as always. Will Emmie choose her love life over her friendships? Or will she abandon both in order to keep her top spot in the classroom...
