"I just don't get it." I laughed shaking my head as I drew my attention back down to my lap.

Archie paused for a moment before readjusting himself on the blanket. He leaned back, resting his left hand on the ground to keep him a stable and rested his right on his knee. He pushed his glasses up the brim of his nose before smiling softly.

"Okay think about like this, you had popular girls at your old school right?" I raised an eyebrow at him as my chewing of the grape I just had slowed.

"I mean..yeah." I drew off.

"Well that's what they're like," he beamed. I nodded acting like I finally understood this nonsense as I reached for the bag of chips at his hip.

Suddenly his hand wrapped around my wrist causing me to let out a gasp. My eyes quickly darted to his but he still stared at the three girls across the grounds from us.

"Except they have magical powers." He snarled. I gawked at his words feeling the intensity of this whole situation hit me right smack in the face. I gulped.

Until he let out a chortle of laughter.

"Archie!" I shoved him by the shoulder and quickly ripped my hand away from his. He stumbled over in laughter making me roll my eyes. "It wasn't that damn funny."

"Y-You should've seen your face." He cackled his pale skin heating up to a warm red. I snatched the stupid bag of chips, resting them in my lap before I furiously began to munch away on them. "Okay c'mon that was pretty funny." He cheered. I flipped him off before burying my hand back into the overly salty bag.

"Seriously though," he started picking up a grape from the bowl and nonchalantly popping it into his mouth, "I wouldn't be surprised if they did have voodoo or hoodoo up their sleeves." He mumbled through the second grape.

"Voodoo? Really? If anything it would be pink pocket knives and grenades." I simpered wiping my mouth with a napkin from off to the side.

"Come on everyone has dirty little secrets, they, probably hold the world record."

Will she ever forgive them for abandoning her? Will they ever be able to unveil her secrets? Where was she for all those years? This is story of a girl who was abandoned by her brothers when she was seven. Now, after 9 years, her brothers brought her back home. How will she deal with them, simultaneously dealing with the terrors that haunt her every night? Sneak Peak- Once we were out, I stopped and turned to face my blood relatives and said, "Okay, now that I am out you don't need to act anymore. Now, you guys can go back to your house and pretend that this never happened. I will go to my house and will make sure that we will not cross each other's path, even by accident." I was about to turn back when Ezekiel held my elbow, stopping me on my track. I immediately snatched my hand back glaring at him and said, "Do not ever touch me again." His eyes showed an emotion of hurt that I am sure I read incorrectly because one thing that Kensington brothers are incapable of was getting hurt by any outsider. And that was what I was. An outsider. Sensing the tension in the atmosphere Aldric took it upon himself to say whatever his brother was about to. "You are going with us." He spoke. One thing about Aldric Kensington was that once he has made his mind, there is nothing in this world that can change his decision. This is the very quality of his that made my life a living nightmare, and this is exactly why I hate him more than any of my brothers. "Let's go Athaliah," Ezekiel said this time. That name. No one has called me by that name in six years. "My name is Zahra," I corrected and continued, "And I am not going with you." #1 in pastabuse #1 in running on 2/2/25 #1 in babysister on 15/12/24 #1 in brothersconflict on 27/12/24 #2 in abandoned #2 in broken #2 in abusing #2 in nightterror #2 in brokenfamily #4 in olderbrother #5 in mafiaprincess #9 in siblings #34 in siblingrivalry #34 in littlesister #44 in ptsd #40 in misunderstood #59 in mafia
