Iris LeCala is living in the total definition of Hell. For Iris, home isn't home, blood isn't family, love is just a word, and people who care are rare. Day after day she lays at home and debates on if the world is really in need of her. Until Nolan George invites himself into her life. Once Iris transfers to his school and ends up being in his class, Nolan is immediately eager to find out everything about her. He finds complete interest in Iris and all of her glory. With the Goodwill clothes, messy hair, bags under her eyes, and the unknown bruises that can be found at any spot on her body, Nolan forces himself to befriend her; all with a touch of sincerity and a hint of hopeful redemption. When the opportunity of meeting Iris arises, Nolan frantically collects all of his scattered hope and braces for the best. And so their journey begins.

The boy she grew up with, the one she called home, not only abandoned her but made sure she felt every ounce of his betrayal. With no family to turn to and grief consuming her, she saw only one escape. No reason to keep breathing. That night, silence stretched too long. Her best friend, Ivan, knew something was wrong. He had loved her from the moment they met, but nothing could have prepared him for what he found. Blood. A fading pulse. A girl who had given up. But was he too late? As he picks up the broken pieces of the girl he's always wanted, she begins to heal. Slowly, she starts to feel again. But is it love-or just the desperate need to hold on to the only one who stayed? A story of heartbreak, healing, and the fine line between love and loneliness.
