Hope Peters is one of the very few human beings left on Earth- at least what's left of it. After her being the only survivor from the bombing of her house, Hope is left to try to live as long as she can as she watches the world she once knew tear itself apart. Fires start, bombs explode, and people are starting to lose their hope.
  
But when Hope meets a mysterious boy out of the flames, he leads her to the SSR, or Secret Society Rebellion. Soon Hope is thrust into training for a war against the Destroyers, the people who plan to wipe out the world as we know it. Hope herself discovers that she is a Unique, someone who has a special ability and is different then regular humans. But as Hope slowly realizes what her Unique is, she becomes horrified realizing that she is one of the only people in the whole world with this rare gift- the Infinite Unique- and that some people are willing to kill her for it.
