Crying was stupid. Who made de decision to let liquid ooze out of your eyes when you grieve? Joy Jenner hated it. But yet, all she could do was cry.
The world had gone to shit a while ago. The dead were walking around, ripping people apart and eating their flesh. Her mother and father worked for the CDC, the Centre of Disease Control. When all hell broke loose, her mother decided it would be for the best to take their daughter with them, much to her father's dismay. The rules were simple: stay in your room, don't bother the doctors and behave. And so she did.
But then it happened. Her mother, Candace Jenner, got bitten by one of those things. She volunteered as test-subject. It was simple, really. Candace got bit, she got a fever, she died, she came back. And then she died again. By a bullet through the brain. A bullet Joy had fired.

She finds a woman and small child, but the woman was bit, and so she sent her child with Rachel. How will Rachel cope with having a small child to look after? Waking up from the coma Emma meets the Sheriff's Deputy Rick Grimes, which it wouldn't be a big deal if it weren't the apocalypse. Rick helps guide Emma back to a camp of people who unexpectedly become Emma's family. She meets her dad for the first time. She has no clue what happened to her mom.
