I wrote this short story after finding in my antique adventures, a pair of very old work shoes. Soon after, I got caught up in research about Chesapeake tobacco slaves in the early 1800s. Learning about the routine torments of their daily life affected me greatly as I imagined what it would be like to be born into slavery and die in slavery. For some, there was a third choice.

This is a super short one, can be read in less than five minutes! Some violence...
