It was easy to see that they (whoever they were) hadn't brought their best people, just from a swift kick I was able to take out the nearest enemy. Weak. But we were lacking in numbers which made up for their lacking in skills. And it was these thoughts that would get me killed. Literally.

My mother always told me that if your first mate rejects you, it's cause your second mate is more valuable for you. I never believed in second mates. I didn't until I met my second mate at a party thrown for his return and learned that second place for a being does actually exist.
