Dan Howell is a seventeen year old who lives on the streets. He goes to a gigantic high school where everyone knows who he is and just wishes Dan would notice them. However, even though Dan could have every person in the school as his friend, he doesn't. Why? Firstly, because Dan thinks they're all boring idiots. But most importantly, Dan has extreme trust issues. Dan's style is also different from everyone else's. Dan goes for more of a pastel type look. He wears flower crowns and the color pink a lot.

Phil Lester is a seventeen year old who just recently got adopted by his newly married moms, Becky and Jessica. Before however, Phil was living on the streets just as Dan is now. Phil goes to the same high school as Dan and wishes, just like everyone else, that he'd talk to him. But that's silly. Dan Howell never talks to anybody.

Dan and Phil have very similar lives. They have many common interests and behaviors, but on the other hand, they couldn't be more different.
