Dan Howell's dad is abusive and his mum is always too drunk to notice,, but his bruises always remind him of the beautiful galaxy and the stars above.

Phil Lester is the son of the biology teacher at his school,, and Phil's convinced him to litter his classroom with beautiful succulents.

Phil is always hanging around the school late,, wanting to be in the same building as his single parent instead of a large, empty home. Dan avoids going home,, to avoid more bruises he stays late at the school with any excuse he gets. And he just so happens to occasionally bump into Phil.
