Shortly after Sophie joined the Brammers, Richard discovered her secret, which drives him unable to face her. Despite so, his father Carlisle proved himself not ready to abandon her and has confirmed his involvement along with the town's coroner, Morgan Kohler. However, they soon discover that they don't much time to spare... and Morgan is witness to that after a body is set on his table.

Now knowing that the headless victim's remains have long deteriorated with time, the group is left with no choice other than find another way to satiate the spirit's restlessness as it continues to wait. But then, the clues they start to find will prove to them that this case runs deeper than they think. Worse, it is possible that the person Sophie is looking for isn't watching them alone.

Then, there is the matter behind Richard and Sophie's friendship. As the two children grow up side-by-side, Richard tries his best to keep a distance, but still finds himself feeling something for the lonely girl. Is it possible for him to see the better side of her even if she had let a monster take residence in his once-ordinary life?

Soon it becomes apparent why: Mason is a werewolf. But when a fight turns into a sudden kiss that neither expects, Kieran's feelings for Mason turn to attraction in an instant. None of it makes sense - vampires and werewolves are supposed to be mortal enemies, so why does Kieran find Mason so irresistible? He knows that each kiss is dangerous, each bite is unpredictable...
