Jamie Pierce is a female soldier trying to prove to the world women can do the same things as males. But it all takes a tole on her when they are residing in Bastogne during World War II. Two people she knew well, and one being a close friend, are killed during a battle. Their best friend Sergeant Madeley suffers from their loss. So, to try and cheer him up, Jamie goes over to the remains of the bodies and finds Walter's pocket watch. Sgt. Madeley had given Walter that watch for his previous birthday.
