I woke up in the hospital, my mom leaning over me asking questions and trying to make me more comfortable. Then the doctor came in to see me, he checked my heart rate, plus and my wounds. Then he looked at me and said, "Artemis, you are one lucky girl. The car crash and explosion should have killed you." Then the doctor looked at my mom, as if he were asking a silent question. Then he asked my mom "Ally, may I talk to you outside for a moment?" when they left Drake and Dave walked to where I was laying down, when I saw them I smiled. When they got close they smiled, but the smile did not reach their eyes. When I saw that my smile disappeared, then I went to talk but there was no sound. Tears started to run down my face because I realized something. All I could think was why are you guys here and not in a hospital bed? Then it hit me, hard, they no longer live. They died. The tears would not stop they kept running down my face, then the doctor and my mother came in and both started to freak out. As they were trying to come me down all I could hear was KNOCK. KNOCK. The knocking brought me back from the memory. I put down my brothers stuff and went to the door, but no one was there. Again I could hear the knocking noise. So I went towards my room, past the little music box thing as I walked past it I hear the knocking noise I turned towards the box, I saw the box bounce. So I picked up the box and this time there was a keyhole and hinges. This surprised me; the keyhole was shaped like the pendent that I always wore. As I was holding the box, it ended up knocking and almost jumped out of my hand. That caused me pull the box towards my chest. Then I felt my necklace heat up just enough to burn through my shirt, which really did hurt a lot. This surprised me lot, so when I pulled the box away from my body it pulled my necklace with it, almost chocking me. There was a cricking noise that made me think that there was someone opening a door some were.

Words We sat on opposite sides of the room, she was asleep. I think he was exhausted, so was I,but we both didn't want to sleep. We couldn't sleep, maybe a bit scared that if we close our eyes then she will be gone. Nathan"I'll ask the nurses if they can organize a bed for you" Me" Am fine here" He didn't argue, for once he didn't try to control the situation. "You can get one for yourself" Nathan" I'll sleep next to her" For the next two days we spent waiting for her to wake up. Each day felt like a huge battle that we were losing, it felt like she was gone and maybe we both knew she was gone but we didn't want to admit it. Days turned into weeks, Nathan and I refused every suggestion the doctors made. Some days they said she was improving, would be taken to surgery then they would discover something new. It just felt like nothing was working, and our options were limited. Me" I can't stay here" He didn't answer me, I grabbed my things and went to the door. "Don't give up" He whispered, I turned around and looked at him. Me"I need to bring her toys here, I need to bring Mr Elephant, she needs her toys here." "I just need..." I bit my bottom lip fighting the tears "I'm sorry for everything" Pulling up in our drive way, my mind took me back to when Nate and I moved in here. The house has changed over the years, we have also grown up in a lot of ways. We were happy, we thought we had it all figured out and it turns out we knew nothing. I also never imagined myself here, in this house with him. Maybe subconsciously I know I don't belong here, maybe I am the reason my daughter is fighting for her life right now. My bad luck, why did I think I could be happy?. I drove back to the hospital and Nate was sleeping, I put the sandwich on the table then Mr Elephant next to Claire. Looking at them, I couldn't help but reminisce about the first time I met Nathan and how we got to this point in our lives. !
