As the trees and its land slowly burn down by he deadly purple acid, a man that was watching from afar shivered at this sight. This has been going on for ages, and the creature hasn't been stopped. If they didn't stop the thing on time, everything they knew, everything they have ever known. Every building ever created, every world that has been generated, would be gone. The man looked towards his companion, or was he, his companion? His friend has been acting a bit strange, acting anything but not himself. The man took a deep breath and sighed. He looked towards the man with a stern face, gripping onto his iron sword. "Are you sure, you aren't, It?" His friend looked back at him, and chuckled coldly in response. "You know me, buddy, I wouldn't let It get to me." On the next day, the man's friend was gone. Over the Rainbow
This started as an entry for the Open Novella Contest, 2022. Unfortunately, I was having some medical difficulties (which I won't bore you with) and felt I needed to drop out after the first deadline. Shortly after taking up the story again, I realized that I was writing the same characters as those in my previous entry (ONC 2020), Thirteen Points of Light. So I did some quick editing and continued the story of Sarah and her box of magic matches. I'm trying really hard to make this a stand-alone story, but because I know the original story so well, I'm not entirely sure this one stands by itself. If you haven't yet, you may want to start with Thirteen Points and read them together as a single story. The story (this time around): Jared and Crystal's relationship is getting rocky.
