The Soul Has Moments of Escape

I wrote this in my mock English exam a few months back and I was fairly proud of what I wrote considering I only had an hour to do it. I had to write a short story in which the main character makes a decision that sets him/her free, so I gave it my typical dark spin, but if you care to read further, you will see there is a redemptive glimmer of light in it too.
