It is the summer of 1977, on the cusp of a technological revolution that will soon cause the world to shrink. Seventeen year old James Earl Williams arrived in Natchez, Mississippi, looking forward to a new beginning far from the world of his New Jersey childhood.
After years of life in gang riddled neighborhoods and fast paced crime, life has come to a virtual standstill.
But all is not as quiet as it first seems. Supernatural forces are beckoning to James, searching for a treasure hidden deep inside him. The changes he expected when he arrived are far different from the transformations about to overtake him and his family.
His first surprise comes in the form of an annoying nightly sound - one that his grandparents dismiss as the natural decline of their aging homestead. The second surprise fits inside a pair of tight blue jeans, has bright blue eyes and long wavy black hair - Jolie Lefleur Dimanche. And she has had a dream impossible to ignore, one which lures her into a torrid relationship with James Earl.

The Bird People
In 1600s Virginia, a small colonial village sprang up unceremoniously on the sacred burial grounds of the Native American people it was taken from, the Nottoway. Now, an ancient evil has been awakened in the form of Elementals known as The Bird People and it is suspected that the Nottoway Tribe has cursed the ground in revenge for being encroached upon by colonial settlers. After failed crops, still births, deaths, burnt homes and facing starvation, superstitions run rampant and the townspeople do the only thing they can think of in the late 1600s to appease these angry and destructive spirits. It is quietly decided by the elders of the community, in an effort to keep these spirits of the bird people at bay, that every woman should give up her first born infant daughter to them. “I tucked my light brown hair behind my ear and placed on my warm, light blue winter jacket and headed for the woods. He was here, breathing down my neck, yet not here at all. I felt his presence consume me, yet I felt nothing. The cold air whipped into my face and I looking into the July snow. “Whitney,” the spirits whispered. He was here.” What happens when one era ends and another begins? Whitney woke up from her afternoon nap when her best friend Sarah called. Apparently, the world was ending, despite the obvious knowledge it wasn't, and Sarah wanted to party. Whitney was always the third wheel when it came to Sarah and her boyfriend Jack, and was really not up for it, but she threw on some clothes and met them at the beach. Whitney met them, and after hours of torture, ran away from them after almost drinking cow blood. On her run, she saved lives and saw the world beginning to change. She ends the escape at Courtney's house, a local teen, who was drunk with her best friends. Unfortunately, the Ouija board "joke" turned into a true spell that slowly caused the human race to disintegrate and the rise of supernatural beings to become a reality.
