Lina's an outsider-she always has been. Her gypsy heritage and upbringing has led kids to outcast her from the start. Lina has, by high school, embraced it. She is a gypsy and she is proud of it. Her magical abilities are just starting to grow, although no one but her grandmother knows yet. Then Demetri Wavers, a new student with a strange accent, shows up and takes an immediate interest in Lina. What does he want? Why does he keep talking to her?
