Ian's just some guy until he gets himself some powers and becomes more than just some guy. He gains the powers of Bladeworks, (or at least, that's what his annoying mentor calls it.) and is trying to just gain a sense of normality in his life. He's supposed to choose between heroics and villainy, but he'd rather just take a nap. And to make matters worse, as soon as they arrive he's taken hostage. If the creatures who abducted him, and took him to the Imperial Palace, don't kill him first, there's a queue of hostiles, sharpening their knives, right behind them. Luckily Drome escapes with the help of a living skeleton, but that relationship is more than a little strained by Drome's unerring ability to annoy everyone he meets. Getting back to his village won't be easy, seeing as he's not even sure where it is. But he needs to return quickly and warn them of the homicidal imperial troops on their way to wipe out every person in it. That's if someone else doesn't kill him first.

You handled it like a champ. What you are is a strong, brave being that has stood by my side." I breathe as he leans closer. "What you are, is the love of my life...."

Being called in for backup when other heroes corner Overhaul and his gang, you rush in without any knowledge of Overhaul and his quirk. Being knocked out for an unknown reason, Overhaul has imprisoned you to get info about the next surge of heroes. After multiple times of trying to pry information out of you, he resorts to the way he knocked you out.

Imagine, just for a second, let's imagine you end up somehow travelling into your favourite book. Then you started working your magic and you cosy up to the male lead who was supposed to get you killed or you make the demon lord fall in love with you so he can protect you from your imminent death. And woah you got your happy ending. But now let's imagine a completely different scenario where you end up in a book you read like 10 pages of (including the ending). And you find yourself literally dropped into the lap of a psychopathic rival who enjoys just a teeny bit of bloodshed. He's also the guy who killed your favourite character and not to mention you. But then you hold on for a second because you realise you're not dead and he wants to use you as an immortal tool to sharpen his aim. Well that's the story I ended up living in. And I've got one request from Mr. Villain over there, please spare me!

Now, not only does he have to deal with school, his almost non existent social life and his aggravating younger brother, but he also has to fight super villains and learn to control his new found powers to avoid blowing his cover to the world...and it is a lot harder than he anticipated. Prepare for a roller coaster ride of lame one liners and painfully awkward adolescent behaviour, along with bromances and romances, breakups and make ups, and even some cliché superhero behaviour, villains who hold a grudge, and really dorky super suits. Oh... and angry, rampaging squirrels.
