Danielle is a seventeen-year-old girl and is living under the same roof of an abusive parent. When she gets the courage to speak up to someone about it, Danielle and her brother Ben get sent to an orphanage. She gets emancipated and gets out but her brother is still  in the orphanage since she isn't an adult. A few weeks later he gets adopted and moves almost 2,000 miles away.
