The sum of existence contains more than the soul and the body. Vivian Glasgow learns this and then the memory is eaten away along with much of her emotion and thoughts. She exists now as a ghostlike remnant of what she was before in a plane of reality between life and death. She is surrounded by apparitions just like herself that pull the living in and feed upon their memories and feelings, adding to their populace in this ethereal realm.

Vivian finds a glimmer of hope in the form of a legend. A man had once found a way to escape and return to his life.

Vivian plans to follow in his path. She will risk what remains of her body and soul to find a way out of In Between.
