"Sel, we're meant to fight alongside one another. Just...come away from the edge." "This is a game, I was meant to break you. But I found out that I can't, you're unbreakable, unstoppable with me. As partners, as Moon Haze, yes, we're meant for each other, but as Selene..." Her voice trailed off; she seemed to be holding back tears. She looked up at me and took a deep inhale. "As Selene I am very much so breakable. So breakable that if you were out to destroy me it'd only take a small push to send my millions of pieces scattering across the ground. And it's already happened so many times; I wouldn't be able to find all the tiny little pieces to fully repair myself again." I swallowed, already predicting her next actions, her next words, her last words. "But...you know I wouldn't do anything to send you in that direction. I'm saying that as Red Mist and Chris. I would NEVER lay a finger on you without permission." She bit her lip and let out a shuddering breath. "I know you wouldn't. That's the problem. All those months of me trying my hardest to eliminate you, to do what I was told to do, you never fought back. It was too easy, I couldn't do it that way." She took a step back. "When I joined you I thought maybe I could build up the courage to take action, I learned all your weaknesses; but Chris, your only weakness is being with me. It's also your biggest strength." "Which is why we would do great things together. Just let me show you." "And I know what to do to destroy you from the inside out. I'm not scared at all." Her feet left the building's rooftop. And as she fell, it was as if time had slowed down; I could see every emotion in her icy wide eyes. Fear, passion, guilt. And while she fell I began to feel numb. Began to lose my own emotions. As she neared the ground, I felt it. As she hit the hard, cold concrete, as she lay in a puddle of blood I could feel her pain. When she fell, she took me with her. She killed me with her very last breath.

The rooftop scene played in slow motion in her eyes. Her boyfriend's hands wrapped around her best friend, their lips locked, their laughter echoing in the crisp morning air. Her heart didn't just break it turned to dust. The voices in her head chuckled darkly, whispering like shadows: "If you had chosen him... you wouldn't be in pain. He would never betray you. He has been watching, waiting... a red flag to the world, but to you... a green light." She staggered back, her breath trembling. "Who... who are you?" she whispered, pressing her hands to her ears. "We are your choices. Your paths. And the gangster who scares everyone? He would rather die than see you cry." The voices faded, but their words rooted in her chest. The next day in class, she could barely focus. Everyone knew her as the quiet girl who never caused trouble, but now her world tilted sideways. When she glanced at the back corner, she caught him staring Raven, the school's infamous gangster. He leaned against his chair lazily, tattoos peeking from under his sleeve, but his eyes those sharp, storm colored eyes softened the moment they met hers. She quickly looked away, cheeks burning. At lunch, she found her seat empty. Her supposed best friend didn't sit beside her anymore. Her ex avoided her completely, as if she was the one at fault. She tried to eat, but her throat closed up. Then a tray slammed down across from her. "You're not eating," Raven muttered, sitting down uninvited. Her eyes widened. "Why are you-" "Because you look like hell," he cut in. "And because I told myself if I ever see you cry over someone who isn't me, I'll make them regret it." Her stomach knotted. Was he joking? Threatening? Or... protecting? Before she could answer, the voices whispered again-only she could hear them: "See? He burns for you. Dangerous to others, safe for you. Don't push him away..."
