Grena Larn feared the Hunger Games like every sane and insane person in Panem. It was the death sentence of the twenty three children for 65 years and it seemed that it would never end. This year was the 66th. The year after the annoyingly handsome Finnick Odair won the games at fourteen. She had admired him, who wouldn't, but when she was reaped she began to understand the fear of not only the arena but what life would be after if she won. She saw the victors. They might seem confident but inside they were more broken than people realized. They saw death up close, they were the cause of death, they watched those they loved die because they offended the Capitol. In the arena, death was scarier than life but the moment you got out, you wished you died in the arena. Grena didn't have to be smart to realize that maybe the only way to be truly free of the Capitol was to die.
