Valerie took a deep breath. She raised her arm, slowly pausing just to procrastinate. She shaped her hand into a fist, not daring to move just yet. Her muscles shook because of the strain to stay still.
Valeria couldn't wait any longer. Either now, or never again. With so many feelings, she forced her fist on the door three times. The gentle "knock knock knock" sounded so simple, yet so unrelenting, in the night.

small woman's voice asked.
Valerie looked up to the woman. Valerie was taller, but you couldn't deny the inevitable.

"Mom?" Valerie asked, one barely noticed tear sliding down her face.
