This story was initially written between 2007 - 2008, but been searching for a way of distributing to others. I looked at different publishers to get it published as a book, but no success. Even tried Blurb, which was initially promising. Then a good friend directed me here.

It has been written in an American dialect, but I am aware that the concept may not reflect it. But I hope my new readers will enjoy this story as much as my few old ones :)

This story is also dedicated to my friend Sarah Hammon who gave me a topic on "What if?" So the characters may temporarily have a different personality, which I hope does not change your mind about the characters :)

No one knew it, but her father was a high functioning alcoholic that often took his anger out on his family. With her older sister now in college, it had turned to her more often. Laying low in general was a good strategy. Across town, Ryan was prepping for his final year in high school. While he wasn't the stereotypical quarterback of the football team, he did fit into the popular crowd. His sports of choice included basketball and soccer, either of which might line him up for a scholarship next year. Ryan had a group of close friends and a lot of adoring acquaintances. It wasn't easy juggling his athletics and keeping the grades up, but he was just that good. The supporting parents didn't hurt either. I still don't know why you left and what lead you to the decision you made. What I do know is that we're here. We're alive and we're pushing forward to the future. A future that you're not a part of.
