Ever since Victor Vincent Fuentes can remember he and his brother, Michael Christopher Fuentes, have always been seen as the weirdos, societies rejects. Vic has learned to shut off his emotions and not to attach himself as he was shown everyone leaves eventually. For example, his father. Victor Gamboa Fuentes left the family when Vic was almost seven and his brother five. His mother became a depressed alcoholic who never thought twice about the two children she used to adore and care for her with everything in her. Vic watched as his family deteriorated, until he and his brother were the only ones functioning in society. After moving to Mission Bay High School, things began to get worse. Vic was left alone, but only because he had shown the school that he didn't care for their opinions. However, Vic's brother cared all too much, and he was never able to hide it. Mike was insulted, and pushed around every day. Then, something happened. Something that would change the course of Vic's life forever. Students began commiting suicide, dropping like flies. One of these victims was Kellin Quinn Bostwick's older brother, Hudson. Kellin doesn't know how to cope, and feels like no one will be there for him, until he falls into the arms of one Victor Vincent Fuentes.

Vic (20) is being sent to a mental institution and is not happy about it. Its for his own good, so his family says. There's so many things that's wrong with him, but doesn't want to believe it. When he's roommates with Kellin (18), a boy who doesn't like to talk to anyone, and is isolated and closed off, spends most of his time drawing; Vic doesn't know what's wrong with his roommate, he simply thinks that Kellin's insane, and that he doesn't belong with someone like Kellin. Vic doesn't think he needs to be in that place at all. But they are forced to spend time with each other. Until the two boys make an unlikely connection they never saw coming. Warnings: I'm saying this now, and it goes toward the entire story; there are going to be a lot of references to suicide and self harm and other mental illnesses and things associated with them so if that makes you uncomfortable then don't read. Otherwise enjoy. Title credits: A Loaded Smile by Adam Lambert
