This story follows the life of the 17 year old Rolf Schröder. He born and raised in Berlin, Germany and comes from a very poor family. He loses everything during the "War to end all Wars" (WWI) and is left alone. He is now determined to make all the way to the United States following an old friend. On the way there he meets a girl whom he falls in love with.....
