Dan was mute. It happened when he was seven. He doesn't quite remember it, but he remembers the screams... The yelling... the scar on his throat where it happened. And the scars on his arms from the whispers.
Phil was always happy. He always found the good in things when no one else could. However, he could never shut up. Maybe thats why they became best friends. Phil completed Dan, and Dan helped bring phil back to reality.
