Jack met Merida a stubborn hot tempered dark angel, on the black winged training grounds when he was 6 . They instantly became friends despite their constant bickering , but they were never anything more than that . 

Hiccup met  Rapunzel , a clever and bubbly white angel , at the light angel church when he was 8 ,and like Jack and Merida , we're never anything more than friends .
