Melinda Huckle is a 45 year-old housewife who feels that her life is half-way over and that she hasn't accomplished much.  Her closest friend and next door neighbor,  80-year-old Barbara, receives mysterious letters from a stranger named "Benny" who makes her feel loved and young again.  Melinda doesn't believe in the existence of Barbara's mystery friend but believes she is going senile.  However, when Barbara suddenly passes away, Melinda becomes acquainted with Barbara's mysterious friend.  When Benny comes to call, Melinda's  entire life changes from then on....
