This is the story of a seemingly simple virtual reality videogame. As far as you and 14 thousand other people are concerned, it's a free videogame trial that was randomly sent you as said by news reporters and various emails. This was delivered directly to your doorstep just recently. It's just one videogame case with the words "THE GAME" in all caps on the case. Next to the case is a box that reads "Special Gaming Gear." Or so the box has written in fresh permanent marker on it . You take this box and game inside of your living area. Now there's a main question that makes sense to ask here. Viewer discression is adviced. And FYI for any Cyberpunk 2077 gamer, I'm still playing the game, haven't even passed 50% completion XD and I do not wanna watch playthroughs for full on spoilers. So this book will mostly be my version of the game's main story with some canon details. I'll try to update the book as I progress through the campaign. [Edit 2/28: Finished my first playthrough, Temp ending, will replay other endings and based book off those details.]

Three years before the events of Cyberpunk Edgerunners, a former Nomad named Michael used to work alone as a Solo. However, that changed when a Gig gone wrong led to him joining none other than Maine's crew. After running with the crew for some time, he ends up putting himself in mortal peril to save his crew. Seven years later, in the year 2081, he is reawakened by the Arasaka Corporation in an unfamiliar mechanical body, and learns that everyone he once cared about is gone, including his mainline. With the love of his life taken from him, Michael has lost the one thing he had left to live for, so he vows to get revenge against Arasaka, and to kill Adam Smasher, the Merc who murdered his mainline in cold blood. In his fit of rage, he meddles in affairs he shouldn't have, and inadvertently causes a breach in the Blackwall, leading to a demonic AI cult known as the Tenebrium Collective breaching the new Net, and posing a threat all of humanity. Will Michael be able to overcome his grief in order to save the world? Only time will tell.

Sure, it's already November, and 2076 is just around the corner, but I only know about what happens in 2077! In this world, you might not want to live, but you can't afford to not have a job. Anyway, let's start by becoming a mercenary and picking up gigs. That sounds simple enough, but getting a job from a fixer only to face off against an ACPA (Armored Combat Personal Assist) right off the bat-aren't we going a bit overboard here? And who's this daughter of Michiko Arasaka? I've only seen the demo; I don't know these people! What kind of chaotic mission is this!?

I don't know if I died or not, but the moment I regained my consciousness, I was already standing on a field full of grass and surrounded by trees. "W-what is that...?" And I don't even know what the hell happened to me. After I read some information on the screen, I was amazed that the world I was in was like a VRMMORPG. Magic exists and so does the level. "Huh?" When I look at my status, I'm not neither a mage that cast magic nor a swordsman that wields a sword, instead.... I'm a puppeteer! She flies home from war, upset, to do what needs to be done, but once there she finds out all is not as it seems. Ellie’s daughter is alive and unhurt. She is being held by of one of the many debt-recovery corporations. Held, for leverage, to make Ellie do the corporation a favour. Ellie’s daughter will be returned unharmed if Ellie does as they wish. The son of a company director is lost somewhere in the wilderness of post-debt-restructuring America, and hasn't been seen for three days. The company wants Ellie to go and find the kid, and Ellie doesn't know if she can. The one rule she's stuck to all her working life is to never to go to America, but now she might have to. She will have to, if she wants to save the daughter she hasn't seen in years.
