Those dark green eyes paralyzed me, their depths enveloping me and I continued to find myself only wanting to sink deeper and deeper. His hand brushed across my cheek, tenderly caressing it as he tucked a few loose strands of hair behind my ear. Only he could do this to me. Only he had the power to control my actions, my words, even my thoughts at times.
He came closer. His face was only a few inches from mine. I wanted to close the gap myself, but waiting made the touch all the more real and wonderful, and everything I had hoped it to be. He was gentle, not like other boys his age. No, he wasn’t a boy, classifying him as that was too wrong. He was a man. Cool, calm, confident and as he held me, protectively, lovingly, I knew there would be no other like him.
Our embrace was short lived. When he let go, a piece of myself broke, and when he left, I shattered. He knew it was the end and he never told me. I should have forgotten, given in to other temptations, but even through his lies I loved him. He did so much wrong yet I forgave him. Is this my curse for loving a Dark Prince?
Cassalyn Diao is used to making enemies of all kinds, but none have ever come close to truly hurting her. So when she stumbles upon a plot that could set her nation back by years, she runs to her old allies at the Arecian Secret Service for aid.
Marcus Dalton has been looking for Cass since their last disastrous last encounter years ago, but he didn't expect their next meeting to begin with her passing out bleeding on his front doorsteps. But he'll take the chance to reconcile with her and try to put their past behind them.
It won't be easy, though, with their cunning enemy seeking ways to silence Cass and her own refusal to let anyone in again. The two will have to work together against the ticking clock to survive this game of cat-and-mouse and come out with both their hearts and heads intact.
