Teenager Rose Ramsay is half of an Elysian unit, where two people are paired and raised together as elite soldiers in efforts to help spread the presence of the Republic of Elysium across the universe. The last memory she is sure of is kissing Piper Yaegar's forehead before she went to sleep on the Elysium LoKi, a prestigious military ship in orbit, in 2391.

Now, she wakes up in Fenris X's bed, an enemy soldier who is wanted across the galaxy in sight of his nefarious presence in the rebellion against the United Republic of Earth, a movement where all countries come together in peace and unity. Frantic, she's desperate to find the other half of her Elysian unit, Piper, as Rose realizes she has woken up in a galaxy that has grown without her. Although it seems as if she has left the universe for a night, her memory's absence stretches four years.

Rose has four days to choose where her loyalty lays, because a bomb with enough potential to wipe off half of life on Earth can only be detonated or neutralized by the teenager.
