Selected from the fittest of the nation, Mark Fischbach is chosen to be the test subject of a scientific experiment, expected to be "The next leap in human evolution."
While put under, Mark stops breathing, causing the procedure to halt and the many serums and chemicals to mutate the genes in his body. When he wakes up, he looks fine, but he isn't the same.
While in quarantine, Dr. Sessin (dedicated to her) appears least threatening as possible, knowing Mark's unstable conditions. Meanwhile, the case goes to federal court, and the jury comes to the agreement that Mark be locked up, never to be exposed to the public, deemed dangerous.
When alien invasion proves Mark to be useful, the US president steps down, enabling Mark to lead the armed forces. Mark refuses the position, wanting to take the matter into his own hands.
Before going into a battle he might not live through, Mark grows fond of Dr. Sessin, promising to protect her. Trusting his power, she gives him a new name.
They were breathing, kissing, bodies close, minds a blur, world spinning, only them in that moment forever. Shakily, head spinning, Jack reached up to wrap his arms around Mark's neck. However the moment he did this, something seemed to click. Mark pulled back.
Jack was dissapointed until he realized what had just happened. Mark hated him. Mark punched him. Mark bullied him. But why would Mark kiss him? This was wrong. Very wrong. "Get out."
