Hitting puberty is often a hard time for a girl- handling periods, hair growing in new places, and newfound urges that bubble to the surface every now and then. On her way to South Dakota with her family from Texas, 13-year-old Andrea Sage meets an older boy, Keaton Beau, has a fun-filled night with him, and quickly falls in love- much to her own dismay. To make things worse, Keaton drops a bomb that turns Andrea's life upside down. Now she is faced with keeping her and Keaton's love a secret, whilst dealing with her own morality. Does she want to spend her life in the shadow of her first love's family and be labeled a home-wrecker? Or will she find the courage to break away and start a family of her own? Things, however, take a deadly turn when Andrea loses her sense of reality, and the angst that built up for so long suddenly erupts. No, this is not your typical love story. After a while, it becomes something much darker.
