Alison Dilaurentis, sarcastic and witty junior, is beyond annoyed with her classmates. She's had enough of the drama queens, the over the top jocks, and she's just plain annoyed with the stereotypical setting of her high school. There's one person in particular who just pushes all of Alison's buttons though: Emily Fields. Alison and her best friend, Cece Drake, are the only ones who know about how much Alison hates Emily. In fact, Alison even keeps notes addressing each reason Emily presses her nerves.

But a crash in the hallway, a stumble and a spill, and the notes are gone. Now the whole school, and their mothers, know about Alison's unbridled hatred. Shoot.
