Mae has lived a completely normal life until her 16th birthday, yes, she is adopted, but she's never thought anything of it. 
That is, until her adoptive mother gives her a letter from her birth mom. 
Why the letter says is so outlandish and improbable that Mae just has to believe it... But if believing believing the letter means leaving her friends and family behind, will she turn her back on her adoptive family, or will she take a chance, and decide to trust her birth mother?
