It was never supposed to be like this. In a world ravaged by hunger and infertility. It was supposed to promote repopulation, but it did something much worse.
When they announced that Japan's population was dwindling, and that they needed female volunteers to help promote repopulation, proud men gladly offered their wives. It was an all too innocent request, that spiralled out of everyone's control.
Matsuoka Minori always believed the world was a wonderful place, until she turned thirteen and had her first period. Ever since then, she and her sister Hitomi have been running from a predetermined fate she couldn't escape even if the earth's axis shifted.
Kojima Naoki thought she was safe, far, far away from the horrors of Japan's fertile capital, the Hiyokuna, hiding with a bunch of women who believed they cheated fate. But when a handsome military captain shows up half dead on her front yard, she's not so sure anymore.

For centuries, the world has been plagued by endless wars, a cycle of bloodshed and destruction. Billions perished, their lives meaningless to the world. Filled with empires and nations with their own ambitions. Faced with this mysterious new world, the Imperial Federation saw not despair, but opportunity. Armed with their technological might and indomitable spirit, they prepared to forge a new destiny. The chaos of this world would be molded into order, and the Federation would bring progress, unity, and peace- on their terms. A New Dawn to Conquer has arrived. It lives inside the human brain thriving on the empathy receptors, leading to irrational behaviour and ultimately brain death. To slow the damage, scientists created L.O.V.E, short for Living Off Vital Emotions, a nanovaccine that numbs the virus and switches off all strong emotions. As a last resort and with a dying planet, the Supreme Government created the City, a place to contain the infected survivors suitable for the experiment. Those in the first stages of illness became ideal candidates to receive the neuroinhibitor. Having their feelings restrained and their memory altered, those who come of age are designated a life partner through a Selection process, thus preserving the humankind. A few decades after the trial had started, scientists had a major breakthrough. The nanites, which are highly chemically reactive organisms, are changing their bio-engineered purpose when dopamine levels are high. With a new generation of nanoids, stronger and smarter to fight the battle, the virus doesn't have a chance. Many attempts were made to create a man-made version of synthetic dopamine and each time the outcome was a disaster. Their goal is to create new generations, immune to the virus. These are called Purebloods, the offsprings of those who find pure love, the only cure to save them from a violent death. Running out of time, the Experiment entered in its final stages. In between the global juggernauts that were the United States of America and the People's Republic of China was a state home to 120 million people and the world's third largest economy. But things often don't go as hoped. The nation of Japan suddenly wakes up to the heavens above them having been rewritten in what seemed like divine premonition. A familiar, yet otherwise alien world awaited them beyond the shores that had kept them safe. As the vices of globalization threatened to wreck havoc and condemn the Japanese state into obscurity, it was up to newly elected Prime Minister Takamori Hideaki and his administration to face this challenge of epic proportions. Paying homage to みのろう's Summoning Japan (Nihonkoku Shoukan, NHS) as a fan-made work, this story will also follow Japan, but explores a completely different world. Now helmed by a named Prime Minister, Japan will wade the murky waters of the new world as it struggles to come to terms with its issues. On one New Year's Eve, the moment the International Date Line welcomed the new year first, the change occurred. Communications between nations were severed, climates shifted, and unknown lands emerged.
