Seventy-four years has been long enough. The way of the infamous Hunger Games has been altered. No longer is every Gamemaker out to devise the worst means of torture and death for every tribute. No longer are the people of Panem outwardly tolerant of President Snow's murderous actions. Under the facade of a normal group of Gamemakers, several rebellious citizens have begun an experiment which, if it succeeds, will make use of technology both to rescue the tributes before they are dead and then deposit the brainwashed children back in time. They have to try it. No one knows what horrors future Hunger Games may bring, and the desperate rebels are willing to try anything. Meanwhile, in the mountainous regions of District 2, Cato Hadley and Clove Kentwell have trained their whole lives for the Games. Nevertheless, their ambitions change when they, without meaning to, find themselves in the Games together. They are both determined to win. But if they don't, what will happen to them? The brainwashed tributes who land in New York City know nothing of who they are or where they are from. They do not remember Panem, or the Games, or even their own names. This is a science fiction story based off the Hunger Games and its characters. Disclaimer: I do not own any of the Hunger Games! This story is based around a plot twist I created, but all rights go to Suzanne Collins, the author of the original series. Nothing else known to the citizens of Panem can quite align with the horrors one can face within these arenas. Each year it changes, each year it's something new, and the Capitol can't get enough. Thousands of tributes have fallen before today, and maybe thousands yet are to follow. But who can resist the smallest chance that you, a tribute, may yet just survive? Who could pass up the chance to ascend to the roar of a nation as a golden crown is placed upon your head... Sure you can try. But some even say the victors never really win. No, to them the games are like a nightmare, reincarnated as an ever following beast that you cannot tame. They say that this is much worse than the games themselves... but now imagine if that beast and the games collide and as a tribute you're being hunted by so much more than fellow tributes... now imagine that you cannot run, and that you have nowhere left to hide. The war is over, but the battle is still being fought. The Dark Days of Panem are over but nothing is looking brighter. The Capitol has just squelched the fires of the rebellion and ended the war. President Dane has announced the Hunger Games; his solution to keeping the districts in line and Aldera Clearwater is District 11's tribute. The Second Writer Games: Life and Death
What would you give to have one more day alive on Earth? These twenty six souls would risk their eternity. These tributes have come from all sorts of different backgrounds, have died in tons of different ways, and have left all manners of unfinished business left behind on Earth. This is their shot to make everything right. These Games will put a big spotlight on characterization. Why does your tribute need to have that one extra day? This does not mean every tribute needs a cheap sob story, only that they need a reason to live for one more day. However, they are still in a fight to the death. Physical tasks will play just as big of a role as they do in normal Games, The winners get one more day alive. The losers lose their soul. These Games are no games.
